FINPYME BELIZE
FINPYME® (a Spanish acronym for Innovative Financing for SMEs) is a
diagnostic tool for small- and medium-size enterprises intended to help them improve their competitiveness and facilitate their access to potential sources of financing.
The program features a mechanism for evaluating SMEs, which are typically
underserved by the banking system because their financial capacity is largely unknown. Its diagnostic reviews examine what factors positively or negatively affect a business’ ability to create wealth and employment and how efficiently they are managed.
The IIC has implemented FINPYME® in six Central American countries (Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama) and the Dominican Republic, and will be rolled out in Colombia during 2009. The program is now being launched in The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago.
On 12th March, 2009, the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), a member of the IDB Croup, with local support from BELTRAIDE and Scotiabank launched the FINPYME Programme in Belize.
