The Labour Department issues a booklet entitled LABOUR AND YOU that serves as a guide to employers and employees alike. It provides briefs on trade union, personnel management, policies, security of workers, management responsibilities including the collective bargaining process and grievance/ disciplinary procedures.

A limited Minimum Wage Law is now in force US$ 1.13 per hour for manual workers and US$ 1.00 per hour for workers in the agricultural sector, agro-industries and export- based industries. Sample Wage Rates for Selected Employment

US$ 75.16 - US$ 93.88 (weekly)

2. Building Carpenters, Masons, Plumbers,
Steel Benders, Painters and Electricians.
US$ 1.71 - US$2.12 per hour

3. Mechanical Mechanics, Machinists, Electricians,
Welders and Spray Painters.
US$ 1.44 - US$2.61 per hour

4. Tourism Domestic helpers employed in
boarding houses, guesthouses and hotels
US$ 1.13 per hour

Workers are entitled to 16 working days sick leave at their basic rate of pay providing they worked an aggregate period of not less than 60 days within any 12 months. In addition, workers are entitled to 2 working weeks vacation annually.
