Creative Industries

The Creative Industries can be described as the economic activities of artists, art enterprises, and cultural entrepreneurs for profit and not for profit, in production, distribution and consumption of film, television literatures, music, theatre, dance, visual arts, carnival, broadcasting, animation and fashion (Keith Nurse, 2006)

Who is a Cultural worker?

A  person  whose  technical  or  administrative  labor  is required  to  enable  the  production  of  artistic,  visual, literary, performing, audio, visual or audiovisual work by artists.

Who is an Artist?

A  person  those  whose  creative  efforts  result  in  the production of literary, visual, performing arts and audio, visual or audiovisual productions.

What   Is   the   Creative   Industry   Development Program?

The Creative Industry Development Program focuses on enhancing the skills of the artist to assist them in merging creativity with product development. Our main goal is to facilitate the growth of the creative   industries   and   remove   barriers   where necessary to assist our Belizean artists.

How is the Institute of Creative Arts working for you to develop our creative industries?

  • Developing an artist registry which will provide information about artists in all sectors of the Creative Industries in Belize on a global platform;
  • Encouraging private   sector   sponsorship and investment in live performances, festivals and Carnivals;
  • Offering developmental initiative an d identifying scholarship opportunities for educational advancement to allow for the professionalization of talents;
  • Strengthening association to encourage self-reliance, sustainability and professionalization of sectors;
  • Enabling access to micro-financing schemes, and share information about international funding opportunities.
